What every Tunno wants.
The Annual Cutthroat Tunno Pumpkin Pie Competition is upon us and the smack talk has started with my nephew, Chris. If I knew how to, I’d share his first Facebook taunt with you, but you get the point. Humility is not his strong point. But this IS competition and what better way to stir up a rivalry than with attitude and a winning pie recipe? (We’re all just jealous Chris.) Who wouldn’t compete for a beauty of a trophy like the one you see above?
When you come from a Mom (my mom) and Grandmother who thought it was OK to bribe her grandchildren with dollar bills to vote for her pie, you begin to understand.
Chris, Nate and Bob share first, second and third place in 2014.
I hope the younger family members will enter again this year. Last year, my grand-nephew, Nate, (he’s the little guy on the left) was narrowly defeated by Chris, (the beaming guy on the right). But Nate took matters into his own hands. He went home and created his own trophy, a replica of the coveted trophy.
I love Nate’s trophy on so many levels. I love that he remembered so many of the details on the actual trophy. I love that he went to the trouble to sit down and make it with his own little hands, and even included the feathers on the turkey!
Nate’s amazing trophy. I hope his parents keep this for him.
I think the thing I love most about it is that this five-year-old didn’t go off and sulk because he didn’t win the trophy he wanted. He just sat down and made his own! I think we can all learn something from that. I think I’ll go start crafting my own audiobook and voiceover awards, right after I make my turkey stuffing.
Speaking of turkey, I wish you the Happiest of Thanksgivings!
I am so thankful for you my wonderful readers! Thanks for taking the time to read my blog, tell your friends and re-post my stories on Facebook. I hope my posts have brought you as much happiness as you bring me with your comments and loyalty. You people rock.
Now go be thankful for the amazing abundance we have in our lives and eat yourselves silly. Love you, mean it!
