So, I made all that fuss over my story about my mom called “The Power of Love and Pizza,” being picked by Writer’s Read. I was thrilled to go to NYC and read it in front of a crowd, but you never got to see the video because I just got it a few days ago. I did post it on my Facebook page, but lots of you never see Facebook, so I’m posting it here for you just in case you’re not already sick of hearing me talk about it. I was the first one up, but you should stick around for the others. I think my favorite is the one by the Cuban lady who was hosting her first real American Thanksgiving, while her mom was there pushing for a pork dish. It’s hilarious and she’s a great reader. Her name is Barbara Espinosa Occhino. The one by John Pielmeier is really funny too, and Milhai Grundfeld’s made me cry. Honestly, they were all very good.
A great way to spend an afternoon is to listen to all the people reading their stories on Writers Read on YouTube. There are lots of themes posted. One of them will surely resonate with you.
