Combine the dry ingredients, cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until thoroughly mixed. Set aside
Combine the milk, egg and oil in a separate container until thoroughly mixed.
Add the liquid ingredients to the dry cornmeal ingredients. Then pour into a greased 8X8 square pan. Bake at 400 for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Spread with additional 2 Tbsp. butter and serve warm.
